Bike Walk Network Ceased to Exist!

The following text is for the commemoration of BikeWalkNetwork:
BikeWalk Network, Inc. was founded in August of 2006 to address the implementation of the Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP)that was commissioned and adopted by the Tallahassee/Leon County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The BPMP was adopted by the MPO on May 17, 2004.and became part of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) used by the City of Tallahassee and Leon County to plan their projects. Since then, it has been largely ignored. BikeWalk Network wants to make sure it gets implemented.
Here is what the BPMP has to say about the BikeWalk Network: The Master Plan proposes a BikeWalk Network as the primary vehicle for implementing recommended education, encouragement and enforcement programs. The Network will connect a wide variety of people from public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, and those with links to the business community, each of whom sponsors or has an interest in the implementation of programs that can support the Master Plan’s program goals.
The top five projects in the BPMP are:
- Extension of the St. Marks Trail from Gamble Street to Doak-Campbell Stadium.
- Designation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd as a bicycle route from North Monroe Street to FAMU Way, including a pedestrian bridge over the CSX Railroad Tracks.
- Reconstruction of Apalachee Parkway from Magnolia to Conner Blvd. with pedestrian facilities and pedestrian emphasis at several intersections.
- Feasibility study on Tennessee Street from Ocala to Magnolia for bicycle and pedestrian enhancements.
- To balance bicycle, pedestrian, and automobile traffic; to improve traffic circulation; to slow traffic and allow safer pedestrian crossings on the one-way pairs in the downtown (Duval/Bronough and Calhoun/Gadsden).

Incorporating fitness into our busy routines is very important even though it may not always be easy. It is always easier than it sounds but making an effort will surely pay off in the future. So if you are looking for some fun way to exercise without getting bored, biking is a great method to achieve this. It is cheap, it is enjoyable, it is fun and you may learn new things about the countryside you are in if you follow your vibes and stay positive. Many people decide to ditch their cars in favour of bikes today. And it is not surprising because bikes are truly a lot of fun. It is amazing to see how people lose weight and become much healthier just by biking. They are happier and are less prone to have stress and depression bring them down. Making sure you are also happy and able to spend your time practicing fitness is the key to success so get on that bike and keep rolling. You will feel much better and love your new image much more.

If you don’t like monotony and are looking for good ways to make sure you have better health and stronger body then bike riding is designed to help you achieve those goals. Riding a bike is very economical and green and is sure to put a smile on your face. People who ride a bike regularly tend to live longer lives and be happier and less prone to stress. So it is vital to choose a bike when you begin riding especially if you are a beginner and haven’t been doing it before. Cycling is good for you lungs and heart, it helps your leg muscles to be toned and flexible. May be it is advisable to consult your doctor before you get on the bike to make sure you are doing everything right. So make sure you are happy and full of energy with the best of bikes. Focus on your health and you will be a happy individual able to enjoy all the joys of life.
